Traditional Oil Pastels
This gallery features work created by using oil pastels and Prismacolor pencils. To blend the color evenly, I mask the areas around selected color-fields with Friskfilm, cutting along the graphite sketch lines on museum board supports with an X-acto blade, lay in broad strokes of oil pastel, blend into the board using a rag dampened with mineral spirits, overlay the pastel with Prismacolor, push the pigment around with my fingertips - dampened with a little mineral spirits - layer more color on top of the Prismacolor penciled areas, then draw the details that define the finished piece.
