The Museum of Vintage Art ~ Fine reproductions of retro art & photos, lovingly restored . . .   The originals are much too old and fragile to be handled.   Restoration is a digital process using files taken directly from the actual image.   The 'Print On Demand' reproductions are much richer than poster quality and each is made from the original file.   This gives every print the same 'first-run' quality.   The watermark will not appear on your print . . .   We can create enlargements beyond those offered by FAA ~ please contact me directly . ....more

Americas Cup

The America's Cup race is the oldest continuing yachting competition. Each yacht is especially made to compete for the "Auld Mug". Here are some images of the sailboats and yachts from the 18th and early 19th century . . . The America's Cup race will be held in the San Francisco Bay during 2012 and 2013. For current information on America's Cup in San Francisco There is an excellent article by Lao Taid with a bit of history about the America's Cup races and some of the plans that San Francisco has for hosting the America's Cup this year and next . . . America's Cup in San Francisco and Louis Vuitton is Back! These vintage photos are action shots taken of moving sailboats . . . photographed from the rolling deck of another boat . . . with camera gear built in the late 1800's! Even with that they are, for the most part, quite good. You can get an idea of the type of cameras used by viewing the images in our Vintage Cameras gallery . . . View the product with the excellent high-resolution preview to make sure the traits of vintage photographs appeal to you. These characteristics become more apparent when enlarged, but are much like the worn edges of the Velveteen Rabbit . . . much loved! PLEASE NOTE . . . Most of the photographs in the historic image galleries were taken over 100 years ago. The equipment and photo techniques were not perfected and the glass plates, negatives and photos were often stored without great care and as such exhibit flaws and imperfect focus. If the technical aspect is more important to you than the historic or artistic please check the full resolution preview carefully before purchasing a print. Take into account that the larger the print size the more exaggerated the 'flaws' will appear. **********
