THE BARON ERIC DE KOLB-WARTENBERRG AKA ERIC DE KOLB- 1916-2001
BORN IN VIENNA AUSTRIA AS BARON ERIC DE KOLB-WARTENBERRG., Eric de Kolb (grew up in an aristocratic Viennese family, both his father and grandfather were art collectors.: Eric de Kolb became a well known artist, famous for his fashions designs, jewelry designs, miniature sculptures, paintings, and commercial art packaging.
ERIC DE KOLB was a child prodigy, his talents were discovered by age 5, and at this age he began his artistic career. He later became a lieutenant in the French Marines after he left Vienna at the unslaught of WW11. In addition to service in the French Marines he became a fashion designer for such greats as Lucien Long, Balenciaga, and Schiaparelli. He sailed to the USA to become a fashion designer for a New York department store.
ERIC DE KOLB founded a firm of industrial designers that created award winning packaging designs for Barton's Chocolates, Helena Rubinstein, Coty, Schiaparelli, and the Fuller Brush Co. He also was hired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art to sculpt gold jewelry fashions after ancient antiquities. He moulded the 14 karat gold jewelry, then dipped it in 24K gold for an ancient affect. These jewelry items were sold throughout the United States and Italy and advertised in major newspapers as jewelry fashions for the everyday woman.
ERIC DE KOLB was especially noted for his miniature sculptures which were often comical and very precise replicas of ancient artifacts made from various materials. THE PAINTINGS THAT YOU ARE VIEWING ON OUR WEBSITE ARE FROM ERIC DE KOLB'S ESTATE. Many of these paintings were on show at such places like THE KLEEMAN GALLERY AND THE BODLEY GALLERY in New York City. Eric de Kolb also has major works in important museums.
