Welcome to the nexus of art, animals and Asperger's!
I am Nola Lee Kelsey and I create artwork that is growing more and more fearless with each passing day.
Like many 40+ year old people with Asperger's Syndrome, I was never diagnosed as autistic (or as the overtly PC people say 'on the spectrum') as a child. Only in the past year or so have I connected all the dots discovering that I sense things differently and react differently, because I am different. Go figure! Fortunately, I love who I am and find the label freeing, as I no longer feel any inclination to apologize for just being me.
What does being an Aspie Artist mean to my work?
One result of this new psychological freedom is that I now feel 'free' to fling myself down the artistic rabbit hole, fully, completely and unapologetically. Step aside friends and family. Embracing the free fall for all of the year 2015 is my resolution to myself! I can't wait to see where I land!
