'The artist is one of humble beginnings from the green fields and copper sunsets of Bulacan who proclaims that painting has always been his passion. This passion burning from within has allowed him to generate works of art as striking as his colorful surroundings and as vibrant as his multi-faceted life.Mr Navelino has a good number of years to his credit working in various big-name food industries. Having put himself through school, he eventually graduated from Philippine Normal University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, major in Guidance and Counseling. He is also a recent passer of the Licensure Examinations for Teachers and is now considering continuing pursuit of his Masters degree. At present, he works for a top multi-media company based in Makati'.
I started doing sketching when I was in primary school. I would often find myself doodling on the margins of my homework. I sketched anything and everything and I did it for myself as well as for other people like my cousins. This hobby-of-sorts continued well into my secondary school years as I became more and more inspired by activities pertaining to visual arts and their exponents.
I hail from Obando, Bulacan which is known for its century-old tradition of fertility rites. These consist of dancing merrily in the streets. Also part of the celebration is an art exhibit held yearly in the town plaza which features the work of aspiring local artists. I used to go with family members to gaze at the spectacular works of art.
I had found the vehicle for utmost personal expression. I wanted to create a new world for myself that I could share with anyone who was interested to explore it, a world rich in texture and vivid patterns called abstractism. I paint whenever I can and I use varying materials around the house. Sometimes, I paint while listening to relaxing music or after I have watched a particularly emotional movie. Throughout the years, I have managed to produce over a hundred paintings which I am proud to say have attracted many people, among them some already established contemporary artists. Thus, I hope to transform this passion of mine into a successful artistic and commercial endeavour.
