I was born somewhere and then grew up (eventually). I went to school and earned a degree or two in physical geography, cartography, and earth science (which rocks, by the way). Due in part to my disdain for the ever-changing fashion trends (and subsequently my contempt for clothes shopping), I decided early-on to pursue a career that requires only one set of clothes. Wherever it has taken me (from the beautiful four corners of the United States to the austere, desolate plains of the sandbox), I have taken my camera. I shoot with Canon (and also with cannons).
My areas of interest include wildlife photography and portraiture (which I sometimes combine to form a single novel subject: 'wildlife photography/portraiture').
Unlike many of my fellow photographer facebook friends who have been honing their artistic craft and focus for 20+ years (their biographies fail to mention that they're including that one time they used a Polaroid in kindergarten), I have only been shooting somewhat seriously for less than 10 years. I composed my photographs a few years before I stumbled upon the digital world (but I still prefer the nearly obsolete method which entails stumbling around in the dark in an attempt to find a dropped set of undeveloped negatives).
I have a great fascination with the natural world and its creatures. I strive to capture the intricate detail and intrinsic beauty (from the ornate feathers of a bird to the scaly or slimy skin of something...scaly or slimy). Every creature has its own personality. And my goal is to depict that to its full potential.
