'Art is challenging, it is intriguing, thoughtful, inspiring and creative. Art is expressive, it's frustrating, fulfilling, and unpredictable. Art is knowledge. Art is an awareness of the world around us and an appreciation for beauty. Art is of utmost importance in our modern world and art is my passion.'
Molly Markow was born in Loveland, CO in 1993. She has been painting regularly for 4 years and has decided to pursue a career in the arts.
'I am constantly trying to figure out how to merge the two arts that I love. Art and music are a way to connect with the people around you and to communicate with the world. My dream is to use art and music to create a peaceful platform for cultural exchange.' She is currently attending the University of Wyoming in Laramie, and is pursuing a BFA degree in art.
Artist Statement:
'I am a young artist and an aspiring musician. I have discovered the captivating parallels between playing the saxophone and holding a paintbrush and these similarities have intrigued and challenged me to explore the intimate relationship between art and music. They share countless concepts and terminology, including movement, composition and color. I explore how these related concepts work together within visual art, to convey the synergy and harmony found in music.
My dream is to discover a way to combine art and music to create a peaceful platform for cultural exchange. It is my belief that every single individual on this earth can relate to art and music in one form or another. They draw out raw human emotions and offer a means and an endless capacity for connection, healing and communication. It is my goal, to work with prison inmates, victims of human trafficking, and refugees from cultural conflicts around the world, while using music and art as a platform for the healing process.'
