Melody Idakaar was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1986, and grew up in Northern NJ before receiving her BFA from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in 2009, with a concentration in filmmaking. Prior to coming to The Museum School, she spent her free time in numismatics, etymology, roller blading, painting, sculpting, practicing and teaching yoga, and making music.
An avid traveler, Melody has been to Japan, Mexico, Canada and all of the contiguous United States. She loves music (especially punk and metal), vintage Halloween memorabilia, circus arts, and Pee-Wee Herman.
Melody is currently located in New York City, studying at the William Esper Studio and working on a feature length documentary about a unique mansion and a science fiction short, 'Earth Girl For A Day'. She hopes to someday play drums professionally, become a decent skateboarder, and make work that changes the world.
