I was born in the Midwest and lived in Indiana and Ohio until retiring to Virginia Beach, VA in 2006. After enjoying my art primarily as a hobby before leaving my life as a medical technologist, I am now proud to call myself a full-time professional artist.
Most of my career was spent in the highly regulated field of blood banking and transfusion medicine, but I've always loved the creative process. Because of my commitments to working, making a home and raising my children, I had little time to draw or paint. I took an occasional art or ceramics class, but saw them more as a neglected hobby than a calling. Even after periods away from art, though, I found myself being pulled back time and time again and eventually, came to realize painting gave me a sense of freedom I'd never felt during my professional life. Since my children are now grown and have their own lives and responsibilities, I've been blessed to be able to give my full focus to enjoying and creating art.
I enjoy both representaitonal and abstract work but over the past few years have found myself doing almost exclusively abstracts. Although I have painted in oil and watercolor in the past, I now paint with acrylics .I have been included in numerous juried exhibitions, have work in both private and corporate collections, and sold paintings nationally and internationally.
