Martine was born and raised in Belgium where she studied art at La Biche and Les Arts et Metiers du Hainaut. She did her first joined exhibition at the age of 25. Martine worked mainly with oil until she moved with her British husband to the United Kingdom and decided to try her hand at a typically English medium, watercolour, which she found totally irresistible.
