I use the medium of watercolor to interpret the world in a semi-realistic manner and to create scenes that eliminate in many cases, extraneous content allowing me to emphasize what I deem important to accentuate the visual impact of my work. I create variety in my work through color, a balance of detail and texture and minimization of less important factors. The development of composition emphasizes the excitement I have seen in the image and helps guide the viewer to the subject matter. Through the use of various watercolor techniques I strive to assist the viewer in experiencing the “a ha” moment in which they share and connect with my vision.
I have been working with a variety of mediums: watercolors, pastel, pencil and charcoal. I have travelled extensively to Hawaii, Tanzania, Italy, Greece, Guatamala, and Paraguay. I work on site and from my photographs.
