ARTISTS STATEMENT 2015
Art is like beauty, its value is in the eye of the beholder. Whether your two year old created a masterpiece worthy of the refrigerator, your retired Mom gifts you her creations from her first art class or John Lennon's doodles languish in little poetry books - it's your call. The value of any art is up to you - the observer. the lover, the purchaser, the colleague - you the general public.
My unique, expressionistic or post-impressionistic original oils, acrylics, and mixed media on stretched canvas, board or ACEO are on many walls throughout the world. The House of Sweden, www.houseofsweden.com, north of the Kennedy Center on the Potomac in Georgetown (D.C.) sponsored the CAG Art Show, which I enjoyed participating in was a success. The Rehoboth Art League in Henlopen Acres in the Rehoboth Beach area of Delaware is where I continue to support and display as a member on occasion.
My works are studies of homes and streets in Glover Park, the DC neighborhood my Mother and I loved. Atlantic seaboard images like the Delaware WWII Gun Towers and the Henlopen Lighthouse are my recent favorite subjects. The 'Lewes Lighthouse 1926' is an expressionistic interpretation of the last days of the lighthouse prior to the ocean finally taking it and the adjoining house. FInally, 'La La Land' and 'Firetowers' are done! The recent Rehoboth Art League Miniature Show was a hit - my two little ACEO impasto pieces survived the hundreds of representational mini-wonders of incredible detail.
Please be sure to attend the Citizens Association of Georgetown 2016 art show at www.houseofsweden.com - amazing venue and show which will have it's opening February 2016. Also come to the Rehoboth Art League which is open year round as are many of the superb galleries here at the beach.
I started training as an artist in Venice Beach, CA under the tutelage of Tom O'Mara, a fellow colorist. While on an extended RV tour of the USA, I produced a solid group of Van Gogh like images of moonlit lakes and heat drenched muddy rivers. Then my cats in doorways and windows started taking center stage. 20 years since my start, I love painting the cityscapes and structures. Donít miss out on the new prints/glicees available of all my work on this website. UPDATE: The original 'DOLLES' sold thanks to the Rehoboth Art League; a redo is available on commission. Also 'BLUE BOARDWALK' has sold there this fall too.
