WARNING!!!

if you get an email from a buyer named 'Philip Weber' asking you if he can purchase an original with a certified check, DO NOT do it...he only wants your street address...

he contacted me through this site, but would not buy the original online with a credit card from a site where we have the original for sale, so that the transaction could be secure, and let us ship it to him, as we do with all of our sculptures...

he stated he was in belgium, but would send a certified check for the amount of the cost of the sculpture plus extra to have someone pick it up (here in the united states) then this person would get it to him somehow, and i was to cash this check when i received it and give this person the extra money for picking it up and shipping it to belgium...i told him to send it to my post office box, and waited a week...

i have a brother in law enforcement, and was going to have this person who would pick up the sculpture meet me and my brother at the sheriff's office to complete the transaction...after a week went by, i emailed back to let philip weber know i had not yet received the check, and as soon as it arrived i would have the pick up arranged at the sheriff's office, which would not be a problem if it were a legitimate transaction...

the reply i got was that he could not send a check because he did not have a physical address to send it to...

when someone wants to buy your originals, you need THEIR address, not the other way around...THIS IS A SCAM...

philip weber (i'm sure that's not his real name) is not from belgium, by the way...i checked his i.p. address, and according to cisco systems and other similar agencies, he's from the united states...i had exactly two visitors on the sculpture i listed here prior to receiving an 'email from visitor' through fineartamerica...ironically, the second visitor was logged at 3:35 a.m. on february 9, 2012...i received the 'email from visitor' (who later in an email conversation told me he was from belgium), through fineartamerica, exactly 11 minutes after that second visitor was on my sculpture page on this site...

i sent an email to fineartamerica about this, and asked if they had been aware of philip weber, and if so, if they had sent notification to artists on this site regarding this individual (because i certainly did not know about him prior to this)...all i got in response was an email telling me this was a scam (which i already knew, and was why i was writing to them in the first place, in order to alert them), and they told me nothing else...so, apparently, artists on this site are on their own, and fineartamerica will not go out of their way to provide you with information on scams that they are aware of that are taking place on their own website...so beware, and protect yourself...

do not give this particular person your address if he ever contacts you, but contact the authorities with the information he emails to you about the proposed transaction...
