Started photography in 1936 at my first day in school. Took photos in 1947 of General Montgomery in a tour with the mayor through the streets of Johannesburg in the mayoral sedan. Still have these photos, as also of the visit of the Royal family to South Africa in 1947. Worked in the 35 mm film laboratories of African Film Productions on African Mirror weekly newsreel for the cinemas. Later continued photography as a hobby until I retired from business, when I took up photography as a serious means of work and labour of love.
