Having recently relocated the studio back into her residence, The Sable Sabot is officially up and running. 'I've been working toward a home studio for almost a decade! The cat that the studio was named for just returned to me after five years.'
Sable is a deep brown and a Sabot is a wooden shoe or a gun. 'People always want to know what the name means. It is a combination of Manna, my cat, and a symbol I chose for one of my teachers. I'm working on a design for a studio logo quilt with Manna sitting on the heel of a wooden shoe. It's about time to begin its construction.'
Two of Laura's quilts will be on display at MidCoast Fine Arts' Centre Station Gallery in Moline, Illinois this spring.
