My name is Kristos Raftopoulos, I was born in 1988 and I live in Penticton, British Columbia. I have discovered drawing and painting while I was high school. After high school I took up painting lessons and painted with oil paint, painting landscapes, flowers, wildlife and also I have been painting abstracts. I now use acrylic paint also, as I like to layer and I feel you can do more with it. I have dabbled in other media.
I paint on location with a group of artists and I can say that being out with nature is a great teacher. You grasp that sense of space, connecting with nature at a deeper level. I paint to recapture the subject with an emotional response, capturing energy and movement in my works. I like to experiment with my paints and tools to come up with various types of effects.
I have been very fortunate to have studied under such fine artists as Denise Soule, Terry Isaac, Kindire Groves and Anne Marie Harvey. I am always learning and growing as an artist, I am blessed to live in a community with so many creative people; it is a beautiful thing. I also work at the Dragon's Den where I am exposed to a lot of art products and my creativity grows and evolves. I am an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. I have displayed work around the south Okanagan with other F.C.A members.
