Artist Bio for Kirk Wassell
I began my involvement with photography at age twelve. At twenty five I bought my first serious camera, a fully manual Minolta with interchangeable lenses. Upon learning the magic of the darkroom, my early interest was in Black & White. Photography was a constant hobby until 1986 when computers drew my attention to graphics, and although crude they were intriguing. Being unconventional, I chose a PC over Mac for their upgradeability, building many of my own computers. In 1999 as a self taught graphic designer, and photographer, my mastery of graphics programs led to my love affair with digital art photography. Over the last nine years I have developed a unique style that has allowed me to express the wonders of nature in a myriad of ways. When not creating art, I write, sing, compose lyrics, and play guitar. I take great pride in managing my time between all these passions, with life long learning at the core of all that I do.
With a love of nature at the core of my art, I work with the innate colors of the subject matter to reveal another perspective. Colors speak to me, as they blend with an endless variety of shapes to provide a visual journey that draws me deeply into my work. With eyes wide open, I capture images and transform them into Expressions of Nature, inviting you to look at nature differently, to awaken a connection, that may enhance an understand of this fragile relationship on a much deeper level. I invite you to feel this connection.
