I needed three semester hours to graduate with my BS degree. I had taken all the science courses I needed so decided to sign up for an art appreciation course. I figured it would be dull but easy.I found out that it was neither and to my surprise I really enjoyed it. I graduated with my BS and went on to earn an MS and PhD in a scientific discipline and have worked in diagnostics/research ever since. My interest in art never went away during this time and I would take an occasional art class at a nearby college.Gradually,I found that most of my spare time was spent painting. I have worked with oils,watercolors,soft pastels and oil pastels. At the suggestion of a guy who owned an art store where I was a regular customer, I entered a few online art competitions and had a small degree of success, ie, Honorable Mention in the Oil Pastel Society's Annual Members Only Art Competition,2006,2007,one of the finalists in the artKudos juried 2006 International Art Competition.
I mostly paint scenes from my imagination or memory.
