Keith Thirgood has been described as a Canadian Post-Impressionist. Influenced by van Gogh, the Group of Seven and modern painters like Don Cavin and Mike Svob, Keith attempts to reduce his subjects to bold, simplified shapes. 'My goal in each scene is to find the essence that drew me to paint it in the first place. I believe that to capture what you feel, requires simplification, exaggeration and nerve.'
