I like to paint people and animals in positive relationships.
My figures inhabit imaginative whimsical worlds.
Sometimes the image has symbolic elements, sometimes surreal elements.
I mainly use acrylic paints but you will find some pastels, watercolours, and other drawing media here too.
My favourite imaginative artists of the past, include: Marc Chagall, Frida Kahlo, Paul Klee, William Blake and Pablo Picasso.
Some biographical notes:
I was born and educated in Scotland, where I studied the behaviour of monkeys. I then lived for several years in New Zealand, where I worked in entomology research as well as doing some free-lance story writing and illustrating for children's magazines.
In 1990, I returned to the UK to study anthropology and then to work in art and design research.
From 2012, I concentrated on developing my fine art portfolio.
My paintings have been exhibited in one-person shows in Scotland at Gallery 3, in New Zealand at Manurewa City library, and in group exhibitions in Scotland and England.
