Joya Paul

I am a mixed media encaustic artist residing in Toronto. Encaustic is an ancient artform of painting with molten wax (beeswax, microcrystalline) and pigment mixed together or layered. I use collage, found objects and original photographs in some of my work.I will apply paints and layers of wax to push the collaged image back and give it further depth, often creating mystical and haunting landscapes. I am represented in galleries in Toronto, and also participate in local art fairs and shows. My studio is in the historic distillery district in Toronto where you can often find me teaching a workshop or painting.

If you are interested in a piece that has already been sold, I can create a similar piece....encaustic, due to its very nature, will always produce a very different result and therefore all pieces are one of a kind.

For those who are interested, I also do customized personal art where we can work together to create a one of a kind piece of art incorporating your own personal photographs, a favourite poem, memorabilia, music notes, just about anything to make it completely yours.
