Jordana Amber Archer; born in India, first moved from Sydney to The Blue Mountains(Australia) in 1998 and has been successfully developing her trade and making her living as a professional artist ever since. She holds a degree in Fine Arts and Literature from The University of Sydney.
Jordana has exhibited in both the Blue Mountains and Sydney and has also successfully applied her skills in corporate logo work. In 2001 her illustrations appeared on the Britney Spears CD ‘Britney’. In the book ‘Ethereality’, published in 2003, her distinctively feminine portrayal of faeries was the main feature.
Jordana works in a variety of mediums including pencil pen & ink, acrylic and oil on canvas with sales and loyal clients ranging throughout Europe, United Kingdom U.S.A South Africa, New Zealand and all states of Australia. Jordana also runs a successful print and wholesale business based on merchandise featuring her artwork.
Her 2005 exhibition, ‘Released’’, at her resident Gallery - ‘The Artists Gallery” Katoomba, displayed a wonderful expression of a sensual spirit being set free; a liberation of female energy into the maturation of ‘Woman’. This very sensual expression is an overwhelmingly feminine energy – once again, female in the representation of what Jordana feels as being Womanly.
In her own words; “I admire the natural form of the female figure and love the fantastical nature of faeries; however, I deliberately steer away from the traditional perception of faeries and towards the idea of faeries as a connection to reality, inherent in the beautiful form of a woman.”
In her most exhibition; ‘Masala’, of January, 2006, Jordana combines an erotic exploration of female sensuality with the deep traditions of her Indian ancestry.
Since 2008 Jordana has extended her love of the visual arts to include jewellry design and creation. Her pieces like her illustrations and painting are organic with emphasis on fluid lines. Many of her pieces are one offs and include her illustrations with tiny handpicked found objects.
Currently Jordana lives and works in Mexico with her husband and fellow artist and thier two children.
