Wild Alaska
The shoulder season, the brief window between the Alaskan summer and winter, is notorious for unpredictable weather, and, understandably, not so appealing to the average visitor. The most popular national parks have shut down and the color of the landscape has shifted to shades of brown. Each day is shorter than the last and the temperature continues to drop. The vast majority of vacation operations have long since closed up shop. But even though the tourism industry has flown south for the winter, the land still has something to offer.
