Horses

At the ranch that I grew up on, we had horses, cows, goats, a pig, chickens, a dog, a cat and a whole slew of adventures worthy of telling (but you'll have to wait for me to finish writing the stories). Even though I was suppose to see them all as farm animals, I considered all of them my pets. One of the ways I entertained myself was to sit in the field and draw our horses. I was facinated with them. I saw them as regal, glorious creatures and still do. Another way of entertainment was to play with them. An example: One of our fillies got a bit irritated when I got too close to what she saw as hers and chased me down. Never ran so fast in my life. I was saved by plastering myself, spread eagle, to the barn wall. Playing with the pig lost its charm when trying to ride him failed too many times. So, my regular playmates were...the other horses, the baby goats, the dog and the cat. The cat seemed never to be home except for dinner. One day I decided to follow him to see what he did all day. That turned out to be an ornery adventure on my part and I have the scars to prove it. I loved my time on the farm and was very sad when we had to sell the animals and move to the city. I've never lost my love for horses and cowboys and this gallery is a tribute to things that I loved as a child and still hold dear to my heart. I haven't had the privelage to own a horse again, but my childhood memories live on in me. It is my hope that my love for these things comes through my paintings and comes to life for you as you view them. Enjoy viewing my art and feel free to visit anytime.
