Janet Pancho Gupta is a Hong Kong-based Filipino fine artist who is passionate about nature and wildlife. Her style of painting is more focused on details, bold colours and gauging intense emotions of her portraits.
'I love to start with the eyes and wonder what's behind those eyes. I make my own perception of the person and I end my work if I could sense life from my work.'
She started as a commission portrait artist but later became more focused on nature and wildlife. 'I like nature and wildlife because it speaks the same language and beauty of life. It has no race or religion and yet knows only one Creator.' she says. She hopes that through her art works and photographs it would become a voice to love, appreciate and protect our fragile environment.
For the past five years she's been actively been involved in many charities, and have sold and donated artworks to Hong Kong Gardening Society and Bethune House Women Refuge.
Janet held her maiden solo exhibition in 2008 at the Culture Club in Central, Hong Kong, titled Faces and Colours of Life. People loved her paintings and she managed to sell a few to collectors.
In May 2013 she was invited to display her paintings at the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Fair held at the Excelsior Hotel in Causeway Bay in Hong Kong. Her works on nature were highly appreciated by patrons.
Her paintings are with collectors in Hong Kong, China, UK, the Philippines, India and United States.
As of now she's preparing for another exhibition in October on her nature photographs..
She has recently ventured into Nature photography.
ďI learned to love photography because I canít paint all of the nature paintings. Thereís just too many of them and I feel obliged to shoot them like Iím writing my diary each day. I go outdoor most every day to see nature around, learning something new and taking pictures. ď
