Jane Chesnut was born in Nebraska. From her early childhood and throughout she was always drawing and painting. Jane's parents supported her enthusiasm for art and her skills grew. Jane studied at the University Of Nebraska majoring in art. With her love of art, nature and flowers she was drawn to the floral industry and became a skillful floral designer. She received many floral art awards throughout her 40 years of experience in the floral industry. Jane also expanded her artistic talents into designing jewelry, using vintage buttons and vintage costume jewelry.
Her love and desire for drawing and painting has brought her full circle. Once again she is surrounded by canvas, paint, and brushes. Jane feels blessed to be able to pick up the chapter she started so many years ago. Her technique is diverse and nonrestrictive in texture, color and subject. The images she creates are often spurred by music, people and nature. She is a true art lover and thrives on the creative process especially accidental surprises. The results are an exciting range of artwork in the form of nature inspired paintings, abstract, and mixed media paintings.
I believe art is a powerful heartbeat continually echoing a timeless rhythm. Art is all around us. Some ideas for my paintings come from simply things, a thought, a song on the radio or just catching a glimpse of color in the horizon. I never know when something will inspire me because I feel inspiration is everywhere. I love to expand on ideas and experiment with new techniques. Art drives my heart and ambition, and encourages me to plunge into new creative adventures.
Jane's artwork medium is acrylic on stretched canvas. Her style is varied, from abstract, mixed media, nature inspired to a whimsical, playful feel. Some of Jane's paintings have a slight texture added to the base of the canvas. The result is a beautiful feeling of depth. Jane seeks out different textures in many forms for her paintings. She has chosen to work with glitter, small glass cubes and clock mechanisms to name just a few. Jane's artwork is overflowing with emotion, texture and color that will fill your heart and mind.
