In September 2008 I received the 2008 AFLAC Library Purchase award, and the Scott Taylor Award at the annual juried Columbus Artists' Guild members show.
I am a member of the Columbus Artists' Guild, two-time president of the Phenix City Arts Council, a member of the Plein Air Painters of Georgia and Calloway Plein Air Painters. I got started when my Grandmother showed me the way with my first oil painting in 1972.
I started in Photography in 1977 in the Army as a unit photographer where I provided photo stories for 'The Wheel' a local Army newspaper. I took up the brush agian in 1986 with my wife Claudia in Flowery Branch ,GA. I had a more formal training in Photography at North Harris College, Houston Texas, where I photographed my first Wedding, and then contained my studies at a Columbus State University Rankin Center in Photography and Painting with Judy Barr Dodds, as well as Pottery and Black & White printing at Brit David Community Center.
I had two photographs accepted by North Harris College 2002 Juror Student Art Show, and two photographs accepted it to 2nd Annual Friends of Art Juried Photography. During the 10th Annual 'Art on the River' Columbus Ga where I took 2nd Place with my Photographs, 2006 I recived 3rd in Oil Painting at the Mayors Art contest.
