Hi! I'm Jake - an ever-progressing digital artist digging deeper and deeper into techniques and processes I regret not having learned earlier. It started when I acquired my first camera six years ago while taking art classes in San Francisco. A first semester PHOTO 1 class was mandatory, and having a camera was also. Day three rolled around (or maybe it was day two) and being in class simply wasn't enough to satisfy my new obsession with learning everything there was to know about photography. I became both addicted and dedicated to Lynda.com-Training, YouTube tutorials and lessons on lighting, portraiture, landscape - the list goes on. Soon after, much of my part-time paychecks were going towards orders on Amazon & The Cowboy Studio for all sorts of speed lights, umbrellas/soft box modifiers, radio triggers and reflectors to begin practicing with friends, and friends of friends, strangers of friends whom were to be engaged, and then married; they needed a photographer and I was so eager with each new opportunity. I loved and craved photography, and it was all I enjoyed doing up until about a year or so ago, when I suddenly became obsessed with graphic design and illustration as well. I began a search and study for a new creative skill - so fascinated with typography, letterpress, old era and the new. I then began a freelance project of my own - and well, I think you can guess where I might be now- another ongoing obsession to say the least! I live off inspiration, and I see the world in this completely new and exciting way, and I think It has everything to do with wanting to take and reshape it - using a camera, digital canvas and a darkroom on a computer- so that others see what I see, holding in their hands a tangible print that I'm hopeful they'll appreciate.
