I was born in Poland and graduated from the Krakow Technical University. I emmigrated to the Republic of South Africa, worked there as a structural engineer for 14 years and moved to USA, California, where I decided to continue the other passion of my life - oil painting.
The following is a quotation from the 'Focus on the Masters', Winter 2007 brochure - 'Irena Jablonski is an award winning artist whose internationally known work has been displayed in numerous solo shows. Recently, one of her paintings was accepted for the 2006 Oil Painters of America exhibition. An instructional book, '100 Ways to Paint People and Figures' issued by 'International Artist' magazine, features her work. Irena studied art at the University of South Africa in Pretoria and continues to study at the California Art Institute.'
My figurative paintings are purely impressionist or influenced by the American post-impressionism or just classical realistic. I paint with all I know and all I feel - I paint with my very being.
My favorite subject is portraits from live sitters or photographs.
