I used my Dad's camera occasionally from 1973 (when I was 17) until I bought my own, an Olympus OM4, in 1984. I used the 50 mm f/1.8 Zuiko lens for two years and then bought two Tamron zooms - the SP 70-210 19AH and the SP 28-80 27AH. I stopped using the OM4 when I bought a Nikon Coolpix 990 in 2000. The 'instant darkroom' and throwaway cost of each frame outweighed the OM4. From April 2004 to December 2008 I used a D70. I am currently using a D90 with a 50 mm f/1.8 prime lens and Nikon's 18-200 VR. I use an Epson V700 to scan slides and negatives.
I am originally from England, half Scottish, and moved to the USA permanently when I married an American lass, Donna, in 1998.
BSc., Mathematics, Leeds University, England 1978. I worked as a software and firmware designer in industry after graduating, freelance since 1984. Royal Schools of Music Advanced Certificate in Piano Performance, 1994. I have two amateur radio licenses, G4ICV, 1979 and AB2GR, 1999. Private Pilot since the end of 1991. I trained in the Cessna 152 and flew the Robin DR400 low-wing in England taking friends out over the Cotswolds when I was working in Cirencester in the early 1990s. Always had cats at home - Ada and Byron are siblings born in May 2000 living with us.
