Otto Werner Gallery
The paintings in this gallery were painted by my dad, Otto Werner (1923 - 1991). He was born in Burtscheid, a town in western Germany, near Aachen. It was founded in the year 997 AD by emperor Otto III and became part of the city of Aachen in 1897. He married my mother, Christel, in 1945. I was two years old when we immigrated to Canada in 1952. In Canada, he began his own painting business, painting houses to earn a living. Fine art was his passion but it did not pay the bills. Eventually, his painting business grew and he employed around twenty painters. He began to offer wall murals as a service and painted many wall murals in Ontario, including The Concordia Club in Kitchener, Hotel Waldorf in Wasaga Beach, many restaurants, businesses, and private homes. In addition, he taught fine art oil and watercolor painting at his studio. Some of his original oil paintings and watercolors which include landscapes and nude figures are now available for purchase. It wasn't until late in his life that he began to do wood carving. Although most of his original wood carvings have been sold, we offer decorator photos of the carvings in this gallery, excellent for your kitchen, deli, winery and bakery decor.
