I was born “right under the X in Texas” as the song goes, and that would be somewhere around Waxahachie, Texas which if you don’t have a map is directly south of both Ft. Worth and Dallas. To make things even more “Texas”, my father was a famous horse trainer and horse trader. So I grew up exposed to horses, cattle and rodeos on a daily basis.
My father was in demand by wealthly people who wanted to get into the horse business, so I grew up while moving all over the country. “We moved from Texas to Florida, then from Florida to Illinois from Illinois to Indiana, back to Illinois and then back to Texas.” Later he spent years in Brazil, starting the American Quarter Horse Association of Brazil.
I've worked in the Oil fields of Odessa, I've worked as a saddle maker in Ft. Worth and been on a couple of wheat harvest runs from Texas to Montana. I've been a songwriter and producer in the music business and worked with some of the biggest names in Nashville and Austin and even had a song on the charts. I operated one of the first bungee jump companies in the United States. I also happen to be a very good thoroughbred handicapper, and I have created software programs for horse race handicapping. I've designed a fuel system that increased the mileage on my car by over 60%. I recently was one of the top finishers in CNBCs Stock Trading Contest.....and once---- I even ran a snow cone stand.
But mostly I'm just a Texan that likes to paint....and while I have been painting for over 30 years now, it was always for myself or people around me. I'm curious to see how it will go as a commercial venture.
