I was introduced to the automotive world at a very early age by my father and his stories of a mystical place called Indianapolis and the “500”. The great exploits of legendary drivers dominated my mind like sports heroes.
Later with a commercial art degree I became a graphic artist in the world of advertising design. During this period I also participated in several art shows using traditional media of watercolor and pastel. When the digital age arrived I eventually turned to my camera and software as the tools of choice for my automotive passion.
Currently, vintage and modern automotive design, auto racing and it’s history are a primary part of my interests. Photography is just the beginning. I photograph under available conditions but my objective is to enhance or modify each vehicle while applying design principles for a graphic approach or a sense of believability when creating a scene. The end result may be a commercial poster style or combining the automobiles with a more scenic and natural setting. I am always experimenting with different techniques and ideas to produce one of a kind art. Most of the finished designs you see are a combination of my digital photographic images from one or several locations resulting in a “photo illustration.”
If you see FAA watermarks they do not appear on the actual prints. Each print contains a high resolution of detail with many of the pieces created at a 24 x 36 inch actual size. They were designed to be viewed at a large size so as to get the full impact and detail.
