Canadian nature photographer Dwayne Oakes was born and raised in southern, Ontario where he
still lives today. At age 11 he bought his first camera at a flea market a Kodak Hawkeye Brownie
that he paid one dollar for. At age 14 Dwayne set up a darkroom in his basement where he learned
the art of black and white photography.
It was in his late teens while walking by a ravine 'Red Hill Creek' that a little yellow bird flew
by him Thinking someone had lost lost their pet canary he did not think much of it at the time. Some
time went on and at a local library he got thinking about that little bird and looked it up.
To his surprise that little yellow bird was not someones pet bird but in fact a wild bird. The wild
bird turned out to be a male American Goldfinch. From that day forward Dwayne was hooked on nature
and would set the path for becoming a life long naturalist.
He knew right there and then what his calling in life would be, a passion for photography and a love
for the natural world. Dwayne made the switch from film to digital in 2006. He uses editing software
to enhance his images. In 2010 he formed is own image company Dream Wonder Images which
offers the public to purchase his work on-line hassle free and enjoy a piece of fine art of the awe
inspiring beauty of the natural world we love so much.
