At age ten I developed scoliosis which is a curved spine and had to have surgery to correct the problem. I had to stay in bed a good bit and my mom thought I was depressed so she started me on art lessons to help my self esteem. I found I liked art and was eager to learn new techniques and try all forms of art. I continued to take art lessons through college, not as a major but just for fun.
