Southwestern Art

Southwestern Art has been my main focus since I moved from New Jersey to California to live in 1975. I made many weekend trips to Yosemite to paint that first year and spent a whole week in October painting the autumn foliage there. Each year I would take at least a week to travel, ususally south, to the deserts of the southwestern states; California, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada and Colorado, painting and sleeping in my camper. Later, in the studio, I would turn the watercolors into large oils. In 1990 I began using pastels for the first time and have had a real love affair with this medium ever since.
