Dima looks at symbolism which distinguishes her style in terms of shape, colour and line as the most powerful tools in the hands of an artist to help him convey his / her ideas and interpret the feelings of the moment regardless of the subject, as art is secular and doesn't belong to a group, religion or ideology. Her paintings are characterized by the use of symbols political, religious, or social, with Arabic calligraphy and English writings, and sometimes she uses Chinese, Indian and Japanese symbols. In constant search of what enriches the idea, and translates the message behind every line and colour.
My work is distinguished by two different styles
1) Black/Red/ ink on white paper (or canvas)
2) A variety of earth and sky colours, depending on the subject (applied only on canvas)
I paint on Canvas; Wood; paper, stone all sorts of objects
I use: Ink; Acrylic; Water colours
I'm always moved and inspired by strong shifts of conflicting human emotions; extreme sadness to extreme happiness, love to hate, or the transformation of certain states of mind; the continuous search for truth; our bitter reality... my past memories affects my artistic stream of thoughts always, and I believe it's responsible for the development in my style for the past 10 years. I listen to rock, hard rock and metal music when I paint which I consider an amazing source of inspiration for me.
I believe, with no doubt, that art was the first medium used by humans when they started expressing themselves and telling their history, and that is my ultimate goal in life 'I am a feminist who wants to break those shacks that tie our imagination up and limit our brains inside a box of taboos and prohibitions. I'm a story teller, who enjoys life to the full and is afraid of losing it one day, for me art is the secret passage between two worlds: reality and the unknown'!
