I live on the coast of Maine. I work in several mediums including oils, oil pastels, acrylics, pastels, and Watercolors. I love vibrant color and it unifies all my work.
Maine's gardens, landscapes, and protected areas are often the focus of my paintings. I have participated in numerous juried group and solo shows over the years. My art work is in collections around the United States. I have won numerous awards for my artwork.
Over the past few years, I have mostly concentrated on painting on canvas in oil and acrylic. In most cases, it is impossible to tell an oil painting of mine to an acrylic, even though the two mediums are much different to learn and work with. I use high quality paints and supports for my paintings. I want them to last for many years and be durable. I want my colors to be bright, beautiful, and permanent so only the best materials will do.
I love to paint loosely in an impressionistic style. Monet and the impressionists of his era have influenced my painting style. I am primarily self taught through extensive reading and studying the work of artists I admire in museums and galleries. I have taken numerous workshops and classes over the years from various teachers.
My work can be seen in person in the summers at the Boothbay Regional Art Foundation Gallery in Boothbay Harbor, ME.
My original paintings are available on Etsy.com where I have an etsy store called djoyart.
I also sell my original works at Zatista.com
You will find links to places to buy my work on line on my website that is listed on my artist page.
