I have been drawing and painting for almost 50 years now starting with that first box of Crayola 64 crayons I received when I was about five years old. Over the years I experimented with pencils, markers, pastels, oils, acrylics, inks, and mixed media. I steered clear of watercolor after one failed attempt when I was in High School. Not having the patience to wait for drying of oil paints I leaned more towards Acrylic. About 25 years ago I started learning to airbrush and added that to my repertoire. You can see the heavy airbrush influence and use throughout many of my recent “realistic” paintings. Recently I have experimented with Mixed Media and abstract art as a way to satisfy my creative hunger for something “not so realistic” in nature. Along with that, I have decided that I am going to revisit watercolor’s and try to teach myself this beautiful and free flowing Genre of art. With any luck I will have watercolor art available by the first of the year.
My artwork and painting inspiration comes primarily from nature. I enjoy drawing and painting wildlife and domestic animals as well as landscape. Some of my paintings take the realistic for a ride to the fantasy side. My style seems to be that of an adventure from one genre to another. Maybe… if I ever grow up… I’ll know just what “kind of artist” I want to be. In the meantime though I will continue to use and experiment with whatever materials will start and keep my creative juices flowing.
To this day I am a self-taught artist and have work diligently and enthusiastically to hone my craft and add different techniques into the mix. I recently started adding abstract art into my portfolio as well as 'multi piece' creations. Over the years I also have taught art workshops and classes too. I still do custom work including pet and people portraits but prefer to design custom mixedmedia pieces specifically made to accent your home or office decor.
