I have been drawing and painting for almost 50 years now starting with that first box of Crayola 64 crayons I received when I was five years old. Over the years I experimented with pencils, markers, pastels, oils, acrylics, inks, and mixed media. I steered clear of watercolor after one failed attempt when I was in High School. Not having the patience to wait for drying of oil paints I leaned more towards Acrylic. About 25 years ago I started learning to airbrush and added that to my repertoire. You can see the heavy airbrush influence and use throughout many of my recent “realistic” paintings. Recently I have experimented with Mixed Media and abstract art as a way to satisfy my creative hunger for something “not so realistic” in nature. Along with that, I have decided that I am going to revisit watercolor’s and try to teach myself this beautiful and free flowing Genre of art.
Having won several awards for my realistic animal portraits earlier in my career along with a 3 year stretch doing the Art Show Circuit I took a brief hiatus and actually opened a sign painting/graphics and custom motorcycle shop. That was successful for about a decade during which time I produced award winning motorcycle paint jobs as well as being contracted to paint several Monster Trucks that have been seen on TV. After a rough divorce about back in the late 90's I closed that shop and returned to doing some fine art painting on canvas again. In late 2012 I decide to start showing and promoting my work online and have been selling prints to collectors from several states as well Canada, Germany, and France. I finally got my original work into a gallery in Saugerties, NY and am currently working towards gallery representation in 3 other states.
My artwork and painting inspiration comes primarily from nature and God's beautiful creations. I enjoy drawing and painting wildlife and domestic animals as well as Macro Floral and some landscape. Some of my paintings take the realistic for a ride to the fantasy side. My style seems to be that of an adventure from one beautiful creation to another. I will continue to use and experiment with whatever materials will start and keep my creative juices flowing. I shall always keep true to my passion which is painting God's living beings be it animal or plant life.
I still do custom work including pet and people portraits but prefer to design custom pieces specifically made to accent your home or office decor.
