I first began putting Steel together when I was only 7 years old with an Erector set that my Father gave me for Christmas that year. I built everything I could think of and not long after that I was welding things together. I never needed any formal training in art as I have always been creative in many different ways, but I did have some basic art classes in High School. From Northwest scenery and portraits to Metal Sculpture, I can't get enough creativity time.
Now, Years later, with severe back issues, I have become disabled, but the desire to create is still strong, I am now putting my time and effort, though painful, into my first love, Steel. Creating helps me keep my mind off of the pain. Working from a chair a for ten or fifteen minutes at a time, I allow my mind to be occupied by creating, but the pain always seems to catch up. After some rest, I am back at it. I strive to keep my work positive and energetic. I love to make Kinetic pieces that move and have implied movement. I prefer to work with abandoned used and scrap steel. Turning junk into something beautiful as it was meant to be in the first place. I have a few new paintings planned as well so I am looking forward to letting my imagination carry me along.
