Sandy Hook
Sandy Hook, "The Gateway to America," is a barrier beach at the northern end of the New Jersey Shore. Its unique location at the entrance of the NY Harbor made Sandy Hook an integral part of coastal and harbor defense. The Military presence assured its preservation. Sandy Hook is home to the Historic Fort Hancock,and Sandy Hook Lighthouse. It boasts a seven-mile stretch of spectacular ocean and bay beaches, excellent for surf casting, swimming, and relaxing on the sand and boasts views of Manhattan's gorgeous skyline. Over looking Sandy Hook are the Twin Lighthouses of the Highlands. (Exit 117)
