Art is freedom on a leash, confined not by the tongues of society, but by ones own willingness or ability to discover their own emotional & psychological depths and in my opinion, express them tastefully.

Painting is not just my means to express and communicate; it’s also for me to go to that place in my mind and my heart, that feeling of creative freedom over color and shape without the limitations of everyday life. With a paintbrush in hand, I rid myself of everything except inspiration, feelings and the overwhelming connection I have with my work. My medium is primarily with oils on canvas and usually, due to my still infant stages as a painter; it’s just as much a learning process as it is the birth of a new piece. Working with oils offers me the versatility in color; time and technique that I need to paint in my unique way about how life’s experiences touch me.

A body of work is a self portrait of the soul of its creator. My style of art allows me the freedom to connect my feelings and perceptions with my imagination and the unwritten rules of form, depth and expression. Which ultimately help me to communicate the obvious as well as the mysterious that I intend to portray in my work. I like to challenge the viewer to read more into what they see, to look beyond the obvious and find the correlation between objects, try and understand the common metaphors… to read the story. As with life, some things are simpler than others, and the same holds true to my work. Life is the fruit for my basket, the juices, the sweetness, and the ripened sugars along with the aged bitterness.

For me to be an artist, it’s so much more than executing the technical, aesthetic, or communication characteristics. It’s an individual journey within ones-self, an evolution of emotions and beliefs. It’s a personalized institution formed by those beliefs and emotions that happen to always be changing. Artists offer true reflections of the world that in turn, mold, stimulate and inspire their ability to communicate in their own distinctive ways.

We as individuals are the art; it’s our minds that are the beauty.
