I have wanted to be an artist since I was 5 years old. As a child I can not remember a time that I did not have a crayon, pencil, or paintbrush in my hand. I majored in art in High School, and College. The schools I have attended are; State University of New Paltz, New Paltz, New York; Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, New York; and The College of Saint Rose, Albany, New York.
I'm an artist that loves color, and how colors work with each other in a painting. I also am interested in creating a painting that helps the viewer feel the emotion, or mood, I am trying to portray, in hopes that the viewer will be able to take this with them, and or remind them of a special time, subject, or place, in their life. My favorite subjects to paint are portraits, wildlife, seascapes, sunsets, moonlight, and nature. Living in Florida has given me the opportunity to paint these subjects that I love so much.
I have painted in many mediums, but my favorite mediums are pastel and colored pencil. Pastel is a very high grade of chalk, and is a wonderful medium for many reasons. They are almost pure pigment. And because of this, their colors are brighter, and and more pure, then most mediums. Also pastels do not fade with time, nor do they crack like some mediums do. Pastels from the 16th Century exist today as fresh as the day they were painted. The colored pencils that artists use are not the same ones you saw as a child. They are very vivid, and bright, and like pastels never crack, and fade, like oil paints do, as do other mediums.
I consider my ability to paint, draw, and create, a gift from God. And for this gift I am very grateful, because it has brought me, as well as my family, and friends, happiness, joy, and even comfort during the worst of times, and this brings me the most joy.
