Photography opens doors to the mind, heart and world. It has taken me into starry nights and moonlit fields to watch comets blaze new trails.
It's led me down rapidly flowing streams and rivers into a sunny day's thunderstorm - pushing me into underwater caves and down the path of
Florida's only known cavern. It's led me trekking from cypress domes through oak hammocks across dry prairies catching images of creatures,
plants, and vistas - large and small at once. We see the world in motion. The camera lens lets us examine the details of the world in stop motion perspective.
I've been exploring Florida through photography with friends and colleagues for two decades. I prefer to use film as an archival medium but
I cannot overlook the virtues of digital photography. I usually travel with a medium format film camera for landscapes and a digital camera for
the creatures I encounter along the way. With each photograph, I seek to share, to communicate, to spark dialogs that exchange information
and experiences - to allow a reflective appreciation of the possibilities around us all.
