Cecil Herring created her signature style called Spacescapes® a spiritual connection to space after she spent years working as a space reporter photographer covering the Apollo Moon Program at Cape Kennedy. Seeing giant space ships lifting off the launch pad 2.8 miles from the press site does something to a person, she says. 'I dedicated my art to space ideas in art. Humans are spiritual creatures and divine because we can see the colors of nature and can communicate that beauty in many forms of art.' Every time I paint, create a sculpture or create computer art, I think of space and how I can express a sense of space.”
Cecil has shown her works in many media in galleries and museums throughout Florida including Miami, Orlando, Pensacola, Tampa, and Jacksonville and in New York, San Francisco, Beijjing, China, and Germany. Currently, she exhibits approximately 400 works of painting, sculpture, jewelry, wearable art and photography on her own web gallery at http://www.spacescapes.com.
The Miami native began painting studies at age 19, later studying at U. of Florida, sculpture at U.C.F., wearable art and jewelry at Arrowmont School of Crafts. She received a BA in Humanities-the Arts, painting, sculpture, music, theatre and writing, at U.C.F., 1986. In 1988 she began computer art training, graduating from McFatter Technical School, Davie, FL.
