Born and raised in western Loudoun County, VA, Cathy grew up on and around farms. It is no surprise then, that the scenes that she depicts in her art are those that she is most familiar with: barns and rural life. These scenes are usually off the beaten path, and is another reason she enjoys them; they give the viewer a chance to see places they may not otherwise.
Cathy has been engaging in some form of needlework since she was a teenager. While she still enjoyed that, she felt like she wanted to do more, and eventually began to paint. This gave her a new outlet to preserve the scenes she loves so much. She now specializes in pastels, but also works in acrylics, oils, and colored pencils. She also enjoys photography and photo manipulation.
Cathy's cross-stitch pieces have been included in the following exhibits/shows:
Bluemont Fair - Bluemont, VA 2008, 2013
Middleburg Artwalk - Middleburg, VA 2010
Joan Gardiner's Christmas Open Houses - Unison, VA 2007, 2010
Women's Work Exhibit - Gallery One in the Loudoun County, VA Government Building 2013
Waterford Fair - Waterford, VA 2013
Several of her cross-stitch, pastel, and acrylic pieces are now in private collections.
Cathy and her husband now live in Harpers Ferry, WV with their four dogs and cat.
