I have lived in and photographed the Eastern Sierra in California for 14 years now. It is a photographers paradise with endless opportunities for photography. One of the first lessons I learned when I moved here was never to leave the house without my camera, just driving to and from work can present chances for spectacular images.
I spend a lot of time hiking in the Sierra Nevada back country, my favorite thing to do here. With Mono Lake, Yosemite and Death Valley all within a few hours drive, and the Sierra Nevada right outside my front door, I could hardly ask for more.
I started taking photos as a child with my first camera, an instamatic, bought for me by my dad, who is also the one who taught me about photography, being an amazing photographer himself. My favorite photographer? Ansel Adams of course, and present day I really admire Galen Rowell's work, both who had a tremendous love for the Eastern Sierra, as I do.
Through my work I hope to convey the awe inspiring beauty and peace that exists here.
