I am a self-taught artist who has painted professionally for over 30 years. At age 15 I purchased my first oil paints, and to this day oil is my preferred medium, although I also paint with acrylics and watercolor. I have won awards at various art festivals and local and national art competitions. I recently was juried into membership with Oil Painters of America.
I have always taken many reference photographs for my paintings, and currently am exploring the possibility of pursuing photography as a major art form. However, my true love is and will remain creating art on canvas. I have also worked in colored pencil, but there is something special to me about the process of applying paint and the feel of the brush that no dry medium can match.
