.Carol Bitz is a mostly self taught artist, having created art since she was old enough to hold a pencil, brush or needle..... a hammer, reciprocal saw or screwdriver. In 1986, she was accepted into a senior citizen oil painting class taught by Vivian Marie Williams of Oak Harbor, Washington. After retirement, she took a few classes taught by her neighbor, artist Stan Capon, and is currently painting with Professional Artist.Edi Olson of Vancouver, Washington. Many of her paintings have won awards, including 'Peoples' Choice', and/or 'Judge's Choice'. Her paintings are often featured in various art exhibits.
Carol has served as president of the Gresham Society of Artists. She also served as chairperson of the Judging Committee of the Portland Fine Arts Association. She is a member of four art clubs in the Portland/Vancouver area.
Married to a Lutheran pastor for 40 years, Carol spends much 'retirement appreciation' painting in her studio at home in Vancouver.
