Photography has been Stephen's passion since he was very young. He is self taught and has a strong interest in visually stunning films. These types of films and collecting nature calendars became a forefront in his interest in photography. However, his interest really took off when Comet Hale-Bopp in 1997 lit up the night sky. He took hundreds of photos of this comet with a friendís camera, which led him to purchase his first manual film camera. The images on his page are primarily taken with Fuji Velvia 50 and Fuji T64 film using a Nikon N80 and digital using a Canon G10.
Stephen also graduated from Berklee College of Music with a major in Film Composition and Piano. In his photography as well as music, he strives for a sense of space that emphasizes openness and avoids clutter. Just as the musical score sets the mood for a movie, color composition can set the mood in landscape photography. The intertwining of the simplest melodies creates some of the most interesting scores. The intertwining of the simplest elements in nature makes some of the most interesting photographs.
